View All Plans →Energy Texas is a Houston-based electricity provider focused exclusively on the Texas market. Founded in 2021, it is now part of the same company as Rhythm Energy, although the two brands offer and market their electricity plans separately.
Energy Texas offers a relatively simple lineup of fixed-rate and bill-credit plans, with 100% renewable energy included across its residential plans. It also offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and online tools that help customers monitor their electricity use and anticipate upcoming bills. For shoppers, the main distinction within its lineup is whether you want a straightforward fixed rate or a plan that provides a credit when your usage reaches a specified level.
Energy Texas offers traditional fixed-rate plans, bill-credit plans and a no-contract option. The main difference is whether you want a straightforward rate or a plan whose price depends on your monthly electricity use.
What it is: Energy Texas offers fixed-rate plans with several contract lengths, including Come & Take It 12, The Steady 16, Bigger Than Texas 24 and Inflation Fix 36. Your energy rate is locked in for the contract term.
What to consider: Compare the rates across the different terms rather than assuming a longer contract is a better deal. A 12-, 16-, 24- or 36-month plan can each be priced differently when you shop.
What it is: The Lone Saver Plus plans provide a $125 bill credit when your monthly electricity use reaches 1,000 kWh or more. Energy Texas currently offers the structure with 12- and 24-month terms.
What to consider: The credit can make the plan look very inexpensive at 1,000 kWh, but the economics change when your usage falls below the qualifying level. Check your past electricity usage to see how consistently your home stays above 1,000 kWh before choosing this plan.
What it is: A no-contract option for customers who do not want to commit to a fixed term.
What to consider: You get more flexibility, but you give up the price certainty of a fixed-rate contract. Compare the current price with Energy Texas’s fixed-rate options before deciding whether that flexibility is worth paying for.
Separately from the plan itself, Energy Texas offers monthly bill credits for enrolling in Auto Pay. That is a credit tied to how you pay, not to how much electricity you use, so keep it distinct from the usage-based credit on The Lone Saver Plus.
For any Energy Texas plan, check the Electricity Facts Label to see how the price changes at different usage levels and whether any credits or other pricing conditions apply.

Energy Texas is available in most parts of Texas where you can choose your own electricity provider, including Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Waco, Corpus Christi and McAllen.
Depending on where you live, your electricity is delivered by Oncor, CenterPoint Energy, AEP Texas or Texas-New Mexico Power. Energy Texas sells your electricity plan, while your local utility delivers the power and handles outages. Enter your ZIP code to see Energy Texas plans available at your address.
Where you should go depends on whether you are shopping, already a customer, or without power.
If you are still choosing a plan, start by comparing the Energy Texas plans and rates available for your address. Energy Texas takes new-service calls on 1-800-837-4099, and sells directly at energytexas.com.
Customer service is 1-888-830-0871, open Monday to Friday 8am–8pm and Saturday 9am–3pm Central, with chat also available on Sundays. Sign in to Energy Texas MyAccount, or use its contact page for other options.
Do not call Energy Texas to report an outage. Report it to your local utility, which owns the lines and restores service — Energy Texas directs outage reports the same way on its own contact page.
Power Texas rating: 4 out of 5 stars
We give Energy Texas 4 out of 5 stars for a relatively simple plan lineup, 100% renewable energy and useful customer protections. Shoppers can choose straightforward fixed-rate plans or a bill-credit plan, and the 30-day Test Drive gives new customers time to decide whether the plan is a good fit. Energy Texas also provides usage tracking and bill forecasts to help customers keep an eye on what they are spending. The main thing to watch is the Lone Saver Plus bill-credit structure: its advertised rate can look very competitive when your usage qualifies for the $125 credit, but the price can be significantly different in months when you use less than 1,000 kWh.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas tracks complaints involving retail electricity providers. You can view current provider complaint information directly from the PUCT.
You can switch to Energy Texas when your current contract ends or when you need service at a new address. If you switch before your contract ends, check whether your current provider charges an early termination fee. Energy Texas publishes an early termination fee reimbursement policy, so confirm whether the plan you are considering includes it and what it covers.
Energy Texas offers a 30-day test drive, so new customers can leave within 30 days of service starting without an early termination fee. After that window, Energy Texas says its early termination fee is $20 for each whole month left on the contract, which makes the cost of leaving easy to work out in advance: the further into a term you are, the less it costs to go.
