This Privacy Policy explains how Power Texas (“Power Texas,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit PowerTexas.com and use the tools and services we make available through the site (together, the “Services”).
We collect information in a few ways when you use the Services.
You may choose to give us information directly, including:
Some of these features are still being finalized. Today, a ZIP code you enter is used within your browser to display plan information and is not transmitted to or stored by Power Texas, and our contact form is not yet connected to a message-delivery system, so messages entered into it are not currently sent to us. We will update this Privacy Policy before we begin collecting, transmitting, or storing information through these features.
When your browser requests our pages and files, certain technical information is generated and may be recorded in standard server or content-delivery logs — such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your request. This information is processed by our website hosting and content-delivery providers to deliver and help secure the site.
The Power Texas website does not currently use analytics tools, advertising pixels, or cookies that track your activity, and it does not store tracking identifiers in your browser. If we add analytics or similar technologies in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy.
We use information to:
Power Texas helps you compare electricity plans and, as features roll out, may link you to or connect you with electricity providers and other third parties so you can review plan details or enroll in service. Those companies are independent of Power Texas and maintain their own privacy policies and practices.
Any information you provide directly to a third party — for example, when you enroll in a plan on a provider’s own website — is governed by that third party’s privacy policy, not this one. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any provider or partner before sharing information with them.
The Power Texas website does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or similar technologies, and it does not place tracking identifiers in your browser. Our hosting and security infrastructure may use strictly necessary cookies or comparable mechanisms to deliver and protect the site.
If we introduce analytics or other tracking technologies in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required by law, provide you with choices about their use.
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy — for example, to operate the Services, respond to your requests, resolve disputes, comply with legal or regulatory requirements, and support legitimate business needs. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please take care to protect the information you share with us and the accounts and devices you use to access the Services.
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to you, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, and to exercise other applicable privacy rights.
To make a request, email us at hello@powertexas.com. We may need to verify your identity before we can act on a request, and some rights may be limited by applicable law.
Power Texas focuses on the Texas electricity market and serves Texas consumers. Texas residents may have rights under applicable Texas privacy law, including, where it applies, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA).
To the extent these rights apply to you, they may include the ability to confirm whether we process your personal data and to access it; to correct inaccuracies; to request deletion; to obtain a portable copy of certain data; and to opt out of specific processing such as targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or certain profiling. To exercise a Texas privacy right — or to appeal a decision we make about a request — contact us at hello@powertexas.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@powertexas.com so we can take appropriate steps.
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, including electricity providers, utilities, and other resources. We provide these links for convenience and do not control, and are not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of those websites. Visiting a linked site is subject to that site’s own terms and privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date shown at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Services after an update takes effect means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
